Scanning & Recognition

Why didn't the scanner find all of my books?

The AI works best when spines are clearly visible and well-lit. Try scanning in natural light, keeping the camera steady, and ensuring titles aren't obscured by other objects. You can also add books manually using the "Search by Title / Author" option on the Scan tab.

How accurate is the book identification?

For books with printed spine text, accuracy is typically very high. Older books, books with worn spines, or highly stylized typography may require manual confirmation. We always show you the detected results so you can confirm or remove before adding to your library.

Can I scan books from the gallery without using the camera?

Yes — on the Scan tab, tap "Choose from Gallery" to import a photo you've already taken. The same AI processes gallery images as it does live camera captures.

Library & Organization

What is the difference between TBR and Wishlist?

TBR (To Be Read) is for books you already own or have access to and plan to read soon. Wishlist is for books you want to buy or borrow in the future. Both can be sorted, filtered, and managed from their dedicated tabs.

Can I import my Goodreads library?

Yes. Go to the Profile tab, tap "Import from Goodreads," and select your Goodreads CSV export file. You can export it from Goodreads at My Books → Import/Export → Export Library. BookBeacon will map shelves and ratings automatically.

How do I update missing covers or descriptions?

On the Profile tab, tap "Refresh missing metadata." This scans your library for books without covers or descriptions and fetches them from Google Books. You can also edit individual books by tapping them and using the edit options.

Can I delete multiple books at once?

Yes. On the Library tab, long-press any book card to enter selection mode, then tap additional books to select them. Use the action bar at the bottom to delete, move to a shelf, or perform other bulk actions.

What does BookBeacon cost?

BookBeacon offers a free tier to get started, with optional subscription plans that unlock additional features. Download the app to see current pricing and what's included in each plan.

Is my library backed up?

Your library is stored securely in the cloud and tied to your account. If you sign out and sign back in on the same or a new device, your full library will be restored automatically.

How do I delete my account?

To request account deletion, email us at support@bookbeacon.app with the subject "Delete my account" and include the email address associated with your account. We'll process the request within 7 business days and confirm when it's complete.
