Teal Nebula LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the BookBeacon mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. We've written it to be readable — if anything is unclear, email us at privacy@bookbeacon.app.
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and, optionally, a display name and profile photo you choose to provide.
Library data. We store the books you add to your library, including shelf assignments, ratings, reading status, and any notes. This data is associated with your account so it syncs across your devices.
Scan images. When you use the shelf scanner, photos are sent to our scanning service for AI processing. We do not store these images after processing is complete (typically under 30 seconds).
Usage analytics. We collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (feature usage frequency, crash reports) to improve the app. This data cannot be linked back to an individual user.
Device information. We may collect your device type and operating system version for troubleshooting and compatibility purposes.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your library data for advertising purposes.
We share data only with service providers necessary to operate BookBeacon:
All providers are contractually bound to process data only as instructed by us and in compliance with applicable privacy laws.
We retain your account and library data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; to restrict or object to certain processing; and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@bookbeacon.app. We will respond within 30 days.
BookBeacon is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us at privacy@bookbeacon.app and we will delete it promptly.
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, and access controls limiting who can view user data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this policy as our practices evolve. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
